The Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development will hold a sensitisation march on non-usage of plastic bags, titled Zéro plastique.
The march will be held on June 6 on the streets of Grand Baie and is in line with World Environment Day.
The march will start in front of Grand Baie police station at 9 am and will reach the Grand Baie conference centre.
The public is invited to join the initiative of the Environment ministry since the aim is to restrict the use of plastic bags to a minimum level.
On the same day, a national exhibition will be held at the Grand Baie conference centre which will end on June 11.
The exhibition will be based on themes such as Maurice Ile Durable, recycling, ecological green products and
services as well as clean energies and fuel.
Several prominent participants in the public and private sector will familiarise people with complex environmental topics.
The World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5. The theme chosen by the United Nations this year is ‘Forests: nature at your service’.
