Fish Bar: A first Shipment of Farm Marine Mahebourg Market

Shrimp, lobster and fish of choice had a serious competitor for the holiday season. Approximately two tons of fish flesh bar, produced in farming at the farm in Mahebourg marine were sold on the local market. This product was particularly popular with hotels, but was available at Bagatelle. As a result, Mauritius is entering the highly competitive market of the flesh of the bar. 

" We are particularly pleased with the reception that the first shipment of fish was bar with a clientele potentially interested in the quality the flesh of this fish , "says Olivier Daguin, Operations Manager Marine Farm Mahebourg. 

"One can compare the quality of the flesh of this fish to that of the old red. It is a white flesh, fine palatable. It leaves no odor in the mouth after tasting unlike some other products. It can easily be adopted in the Mauritian cuisine , "says he. 

Never mind, the proposed Marine Farm Mahebourg was not to be confined to the local market but only to exploit the opportunities of the European market. The company plans to ship approximately five tons of meat bar to European customers this year. " We will try to increase the volume in 2013 , "said Olivier Daguin. 

The entry of the product Made in Mauritius was preceded by an exercise of taste to potential customers of the flesh of this fish a test, according to Olivier Daguin, was positive. 

Despite the perspectives represented by the fish farming project bar, this product is not welcome in the eyes of the fishing community of Mauritius. These fishermen are protesting against the presence of this fish in the lagoon because of its tendency to feed on other fish on which local fishermen have to boil the pot. 

Sixteen members of Fishermen's Association Rising Sun had pushed their protest in early October 2011, to destroy the nets of the Ferme Marine Mahebourg. They are all-Bamboo Virieux, coastal village in south-east and is near the site where fish farming is done bar. They were arrested and brought before the District Court of Grand Port. They were released after paying bail of Rs 8000 each and an acknowledgment of debt of Rs 50,000. The trial continues May 3, 2012.
