Under the 10th Mauritius -Seychelles Joint Commission, the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Xavier -Luc Duval and his Seychelles counterpart Jean- Paul Adam has this morning signed a joint agreement on 22 points. Cooperation in the economic , tourism and ocean economy is among the topics. Xavier -Luc Duval, for his part stressed the cultural affinity between Mauritius and the Seychelles.

"Our relations are based on history and affinity between our two countries," said the two ministers . Among the highlights of the bilateral agreement is the ability to recruit Mauritius Seychelles professionals ( doctors, nurses, lawyers, teachers, accountants ... ), Mauritius has the opportunity to do the same side of the Seychelles .In terms of connectivity, the Seychelles agreed that Mauritius can connect to SEAS submarine cable to access the EASSy cable . The fisheries has not been forgotten, with both parties reached agreement for the creation of joint companies for tuna fishing . Similarly, it was also discussed joint surveillance patrols exclusive economic zones . In addition, the Seychelles have agreed to provide training for fishers and fisheries officers .
The two countries have also approved the signing of an Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement and are considering further cooperation in the field of ocean economy .Regarding tourism , exchange of knowledge about the market and statistics are also considered. Cooperation is also discussed in the field of ecotourism. In addition, as part of the initiative The Vanilla , MTPA and the Seychelles Tourism Office work together to promote activities in the Arab States and the Gulf countries .The joint agreement for many activities, including social security , gender equality , youth and sports, the environment, education , agriculture , health, SME development , public infrastructure , services in prisons and those pumps. Xavier-Luc Duval said that , under the Accelarated for economic integration program , Mauritius can work together to better reach African markets.Jean- Paul Adam, he dwelt on the shared vision of our two islands.
The agreement thus provides strengthening our connectivity in telecommunications through the submarine cable , but also air and sea levels. Also an opportunity for him to announce that the Seychelles are a candidate for non-permanent member of the Security Council of the United Nations from 2017 to 2018 .
