CPE: Exams Questionnaires in French and English Soon

Approximately 992 students failed in English in examinations of Certificate of Primary Education(CPE) this year. Is greater than in other subjects failure rate, said Minister of Education. "Some may be more comfortable in French. That is why it is considering introducing questionnaires in French and English for some subjects. Students will have the choice between the two languages, " says Vasant Bunwaree.

Relevant topics include math and science. The Minister of Education hosted a press conference this Wednesday, Dec. 11 after the CPE results were announced this morning .

"Overall, there is a good student performance. The success rate is 77.48%, which represents an increase of more than 1% compared to last year, "says Vasant Bunwaree. A situation he attributes to "company policy reform."

It also indicates that 2,122 candidates (1,236 boys and 886 girls) received four A +, against 2,079 in 2012.

And 1,779 candidates will participate in the resit, December 20. Results will be announced on December 30.

Then commenting on the difference in the performance of girls and boys, the Minister of Education states that a study is underway to understand why. This year, the gap is 10% in Mauritius and Rodrigues 5% (against 17% in 2006).
