Destruction of mangroves, sand mining, damage to fish habitat, creation of artificial jetties ... These are all accusations made by 59 fishermen of Pointe des Lascars and Roches-Noires at a five-star hotel promoter in the region of Haute-Rive. While construction began, they demanded an order of interim injunction against Haute Rive Holdings Limited .
Fishermen have turned to the Supreme Court, arguing that their livelihood is threatened. Nalini Matadeen judge sitting in chambers, preferred to hear the arguments of both parties before making a decision. The case will be heard on February 14.
