Nothing will disrupt the daily work of teachers, provides the Minister of Education. At a press conference on Wednesday, February 12, Vasant Bunwaree indicated that the Enhancement Programme (EP) will not be mandatory in all schools this year. He insisted that the points obtained in these extracurricular activities will not count towards 25% of the final grade in Std III and IV but rather Std VI in a few years.
In fact, it appears that certain activities within the framework of the EP will be required as part of a project that will launch a pilot basis in ten primary schools this year. A check will be conducted by an independent institution. Among the activities concerned: slam, sport and physical education, painting, drawing, dancing, road safety, civic education, sex education, among others.
The department has set up a team of resource persons who will carry out this project as soon as it will be extended to all schools. Once that is the case, the points obtained in the continuous controls following the evaluation of these mandatory extracurricular activities account for 25% of total points exams Std VI.
