There are about 5,500 teachers working in state and private colleges that are involved in this program. They have their own tablet during the week.
As students of Form V, they will take possession of their tablets next Thursday. The distribution will starts from Gaëtan Raynal College. These students that were in Form IV last year when the project was launched by the government. However, for various reasons, the distribution had been delayed.
A source at the Ministry of Education says a new distribution will take place soon for students who are currently in Form IV. And the department has a budget of Rs 243 million for the purchase of 26,100 tablets for students and teachers. "We are preparing documents to launch a tender exercise. This time, the procedures go faster because we have had some experience, " they say.
A digital library, database on different subjects, system of classroom management for teachers are among the programs that are on the tablets.
