Sean Ennis was nominated as the Competition Commission of Mauritius (CCM) chief during this week. He said that he is ready to meet this new challenge in the interest of the public.
The 44-year-old British economist has succeeded his compatriot Jon Davies as head of the CCM.
The CCM chief is planning to further consolidate the foundation of the commission and to ensure healthy competition for consumers. “The CCM has been quick to take off and within a year, we have carried out around fifty investigations,” he added.
The British economist, who has previously worked for the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), said that the CCM aims to ensure that competition law is respected.
“This is how consumers can benefit from a range of choices and competitive prices in the market. However, this is not easy since the Mauritian economy has its limits. But as a responsible institution, we will do everything to promote competition,” he said.
