In a press meet organised the Le Courtyard Restaurant, Port Louis on Tuesday, Mike Bird, the chief country officer of Deutsche Bank (Mauritius) Limited and Barry Haarhoff, the chairman of the organising committee of Deutsche Bank Mauritius 100 Km and 50 Km Cycle Tour, officially launched the 2011 edition of the cycle tour, ‘Anou Pedaler’ which will take place on October 9.
The competition is open to all cycling fanatics and the 100 Km cycle tour will begin at Pointe D’Esny while the 50 Km race will start at Belle Mare beach.
Both sporting disciplines will culminate at Mont Choisy beach, where a carnival will be organised. Interested candidates are invited to register themselves on October 6 to 8, at Le Caudan Waterfront, where an expo is planned
The event has the primary objective of raising funds which will be given to Circle Charitable Trust, a non governmental organisation(NGO) which supports numerous charitable organistions around the country.
“Through the medium of the Cycle Tour, our partners at The Circle have raised significant sum for many worthy causes in Mauritius, benefiting those less fortunate members of our community,” said Bird.
He referred to the 2010 edition of the Cycle Tour, which saw the participation of more than 1,300 people, comprising both local and international contestants.
