Passion for the land to SIT Côte-d'Or
Craze for buying land in Sugar Investment Trust Property Development Ltd (SPDL) to Gold Coast, Highlands. As many as 1,300 applications were received to date for 450 lots.

The tender for the purchase of residential land with an area in the range from 100 to 200 fathoms was launched on December 5. It is from Wednesday that the exercise of allocating the land will take place at the Sugar Investment Trust (SIT) to Ebony. This exercise will last until Saturday. Previously, the draw for the allocation of residential land was held at the headquarters of the Mauritius Turf Club (MTC) in the presence of a bailiff of the Supreme Court.

Land reserved for only Mauritians

The exercise which took place in complete transparency was attended by at least thirty potential beneficiaries of the land. According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the SIT, the land is intended only for Mauritians.

"There is definitely a craze for the purchase of the land, especially by the individual. There is no a priori by companies that are interested in purchasing the land, "said Monday at Morning, Bholah Ravin, CEO. He added that the allocation of this land was made in full transparency.

"These lands are located in a strategic location because it is necessary that the new Terre Rouge-Verdun road will pass close to the land. The opening of this new road is planned for November, "he added. Potential beneficiaries of these lands have already conducted a site visit to see what state are these lands. "They are very satisfied," he said.

The sale of these lands to individuals is part of the first phase of the SPDL, a subsidiary company of SIT. A total of 259 acres of land belonging to the SPDL will be developed.

The project is called Aurea. The second and third phase will be devoted to the construction of apartments. Injured, a shopping center, recreational facilities, green spaces and an institution of schooling. According to the brochure that was distributed to interested parties, the land of Gold Coast is very well located. They enjoy a panoramic view and are located close to the M1 motorway. Several facilities will be available to prospective owners, there are some supermarkets, fast food courts, banks, gas stations, etc.. "

“A “High Street” like development complete with supermarkets, convenient retail outlets, shops, fast food courts among others will provide for convenient facilities for local shopping and eateries. Additionally, provision for spaces for facilities like Banking outlets, office blocks, petrol stations and other utilities will add to the sophistication of a mixed development.

Spaces will also be dedicated to light industrial purposes, compatible within a residential perimeter which would give the possibility of jobs to the local people. In view of providing a refreshing lifestyle, the development will also offer recreational opportunities by providing a dedicated space for leisure activities, green spaces and jogging tracks. Adequate land will also be earmarked for educational facilities within the development.

Committed to delivering a high quality development, SPDL will ensure that particular/strict guidelines are followed. Hence, a ‘cahier des charges’ will be prepared and abided by. The master planning exercise for the project has already been initiated” "said the brochure was sent to prospective purchasers of the land.

The land also benefit from native flora. It includes native trees such as Bois de natte, Bois d’olive and Bois Fiers.

The SPDL does not stop their way. It intends to introduce at this point 8000 endemic plants in collaboration with the Government Forestry Services. These lands are also located next to the Terre Rouge River along 1.8 km.

A shift of 1.8 meters will be reserved for pedestrians, cyclists and a track for those who like jogging will also be arranged. The SIT has 40 000 members. Numbers of shareholders of SIT Companies exceeds 55 000.
