At a public hearing on the bill and the policy of Special Economic Zones organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Bloemfontein, Alfred Tau, Director of the Department of Economic Development Regional DCI, said that the South Africa still has a high rate of unemployment, especially among young people of the country, an economy concentrated regionally and high levels of poverty and inequality.
According to the Department, Special Economic Zones will be used as a tool of the government applied to solve some problems.
"The economies that have experienced rapid growth in the world, like India, China and Brazil are using the Special Economic Zones as instruments to accelerate industrial development," he déclaré.
