They committed the robbery in a matter of minutes. Two men wearing full-face helmets and carrying swords have robbed the branch of Barclays Bank Desforges Street, Port Louis, about 1:20 p.m. this Friday, July 13, 2012.
They rushed into the bank at the same time and one of them jumped over a desk before taking off with the box which contained a little over Rs 100,000. According to preliminary investigation, the two men were on the scene on a motorcycle they were parked in front of the bank.
After a quick identification of places, they took action. This has been a breeze for them, the bank is not guarded by a policeman.Inside, the security guard on duty did not have time to react.
A witness was able to identify the license plate on their bike, but after checking on the files of the National Transport Authority (NTA), it turns out to be false. An investigation was initiated by the CID of Port Louis North.
This team is preparing, together with the National Crime Intelligence Service (NCIS) in Port Louis North, check alibis notorious repeat offenders in the region. Some of them will be arrested in the coming hours.
The CCTV images have been viewed. The suspects are a tall man, thin and a second considered relatively strong.
