HSC Pro Program Will Be Introduced in 2015"
The Mauritius Examinations Syndicate (MES) and the Ministry of Education and Human Resources intend to include the Professional Qualification HSC (HSC Pro) in the education system. HSC Pro is an alternative to Higher School Certificate (HSC) Traditional. After School Certificate (SC), students who are seeking a more oriented towards the world of work study program may opt for HSC Pro. They can also pursue their higher education.

"By 2015 we will introduce this program and not 2014 as previously agreed," said the director of MES, Lucien Finette, to Le Matinal Friday, October 25. He is proud of this project he started working in 2007.

"Many students can not find jobs after their HSC. HSC Pro will allow them to get a job immediately, "he said.

Those who choose the HSC Pro opt for apprenticeship programs. They can work and also attend supervised internships. "At the beginning, the project will focus on the area of Information Technology and Communications. But, it will be extended to sectors of the economy, tourism, agriculture, design, among others, "said Lucien Finette.

According to him, the main HSC Pro aims to offer an alternative way for students who are unable to join the world of work after their HSC. Students will be well prepared to make their entry into the world of work and to continue their studies at the same time.

"The HSC Pro comes with three new products, including the 'Cambridge International Technical Syllabus in ICT', the 'Global Perspectives' will replace the 'General Paper' (GP) and the opportunity to do internships in companies" said Lucien Finette.

Technical Syllabus Cambridge International is part of a variety of programs developed to prepare students for the world of work. The content will be taught and assessed in the classroom and during internships. "These programs are not assessed through examinations at the end of the year, but through projects," said Lucien Finette.

"The will 'Global Perspectives' develop their communication skills and research skills essential for work," he said. "Our goal is to ensure that students find a job after their HSC. Many companies are willing to employ students who will complete internships home after their HSC and even sponsor their higher studies, "he said. Lucien Finette welcomed the Minister of Education, Vasant Bunwaree, and people have given their support to the realization of this project. "We can think of a SC Pro in the future," he added.
