For the first time, Canada opens its labour market to hairdressers. Since the agreement signed between Mauritius and Canadian governments as part of circular migration, it is mostly butchers and welders who were in great demand.
Are sought after hairstylists qualified English speaking. They must have at least two years experience and be aged between 19 and 40 years. The salary will depend on the region. They will be paid about 10.25 Canadian dollars per hour (Rs 260).
To date, there are no exact figures on the number of vacancies, says a source at the National Empowerment Foundation (NEF), which plays the role of facilitator. "There is a company that is looking for hairdressers and hairdressers. Even if all applicants are not hired immediately, their application will be kept in a database for next time because other companies will recruit in this area during the year, " says one.
Besides hairdressers, in NEF there are requests for specialized welders. Interested parties have until February 10 to register in the various offices of the Employment Information Center and the headquarters of the NEF in Port Louis.
