Mauritius competed in the following disciplines, namely: athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, cycling, football, weightlifting, handball, handisports, judo, swimming, sailing, tennis, table tennis, and volleyball. The Mauritius flag bearer for the Games was Kamil Patel - tennis, and the captains for the masculine and feminine teams were Richarno Colin (boxing) and Jessica Rosun (javelin).
The Mauritian delegation to the Games, held from 1st to 9 August 2015, comprised approximately 480 members (athletes, coaches and officials). Other participating countries were Madagascar, Maldives, Mayotte, Réunion and Seychelles.
The Indian Ocean Island Games are a multi-sports event held every four years among athletes from Indian Ocean islands. The Games were adopted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1976.
The objectives are to contribute to regional cooperation through the development of sport in the region, build friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the islands of the Indian Ocean, in the spirit of the Olympics.
