10000 tonnes of gas capacity for exports

The country can currently store about 5,000 tonnes of gas but in the near future, it will be able to store 15,000 tonnes. The additional 10,000 tonnes will be for exports to countries located within the region.

The annual consumption is 65,000 tonnes that has been increasing by about four per cent each year. If this trend continues, the country will consume 125,000 tonnes of gas per year by 2025. The company, Petredec Limited will invest in the country to increase this capacity. This reached a new milestone as the company finalised its choice for the technical expertise required to complete this project. Mott MacDonald, a firm that has been chosen to aid in the project, has extensive experience in oil, fuel and gas production.

Petredec Limited will invest for the storage structures. The work will take place at Mer Rouge and will go on for one-and-a-half year. By mid-2012, the project will be completed.

Petredec Limited is a international ship owner and trader of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), whose offices are in strategic locations around the world. In addition to LPG, the transport of chemicals and olefin gas are also part of the company’s operations. The fleet expansion of Petredec gives it the ability to offer shipping services to a growing number of producers in the petrochemical industry.
