The Film Rebate Scheme will be a legal framework for the establishment of a film industry, to attract renowned producers. To stimulate the interest of foreign producers, the government will contribute 25% to expenditures related to the production of a film, as is done in the world.
In announcing the measures in Budget 2012, Finance Minister, Xavier Luc Duval hoped that this will give a boost to our film industry, will open avenues for local producers and increase the international visibility of the country. The Grand Silversmiths, has, in fact, budgeted for this purpose, a sum that should be used to develop an appropriate framework for developing the local film industry. Maurice would become a preferred location for film shoots, dubbing and cartoon production.
According to the Board of Investment, five major production companies including Great Britain, India, and the region have been waiting for implementation of the "Scheme" to begin shooting in Mauritius. It is indeed, the promotion agency that is supposed to stimulate the desire of the filmmakers to shoot in Mauritius. The industry certainly now virtual, is part of the new economic pillars that will tap the country.
It was during his visit last January, in Europe, the Minister of Finance, where he held meetings with investors Europe, this project seems to have struck a chord. The development of film industry has indeed been working meetings during this mission. The officers of the Board of Investment who participated, subsequently established a follow-up.
Note that this ambition to redraw the Mauritian in Hollywood or Bollywood, is not new. Former Finance Minister Rama Sithanen had thought, in 2005, and had sought international partnerships to develop the seventh art.

Une valse de transferts en fin d’année dans la fonction publique... L’exercice ne manque pas de faire sourciller plus d’un au sein de la fonction publique. En fait, cinq Permanent Secretaries (PS) et un Senior Chief Executive (SCE) ont été mutés dans d’autres ministères. Ces changements ont pris effet hier, mardi 7 novembre.

Une société privée poursuit le ministère de l’Éducation et celui des Infrastructures publiques. Elle leur réclame conjointement Rs 2,3 millions pour des travaux effectués dans un collège à Plaine-Magnien. L’affaire sera appelée le 20 juillet en Cour suprême.
