Banks provide more services 6 days 7. As evidenced by the recent decision of the MCB to keep open its new branch on Saturday at Bagatelle.

"I will soon build my house and I therefore need to borrow. Not having the time in days to weeks, I initially inquired on the phone when I was informed that I can come on Saturday for my actions. If there were not this facility would have required me to take half a day off, "says Kunal, a private sector employee.

It is far from the only advantage of this facility. At the Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB), we see that the number of clients attending the bank's branches on Saturday is rising. Moreover, the new agency Bagatelle recently introduced its services on Saturdays. Coming and join the other branches of MCB that are open to the public on Saturdays (Edith Cavell Street Port Louis, Rose Hill, Flacq, Curepipe and Goodlands). Fifty employees were mobilized to provide this service.

"Some of our customers do not have the time to come into office during the week. Certainly they can obtain information by calling 202-6060 up to 22 hours every day, but the opening of branches on Saturdays favors relationship with those customers who want to meet or talk with their bankers to find solutions to their specific needs, "says one to the MCB. The stores are open on Saturday, states, however the bank, are just steps from the relational and transactional. The boxes are closed and thus there is no cash transaction.

Tailored solutions

"However, we note that the branch opening on Saturday was very well received by customers. Coming Saturday we speak, many customers have more time to interact with their account managers and together we can better understand their needs and offer customized solutions, "says our interlocutor.

At the MCB, the opening hours on Saturdays from 9 am is 30 to 13 h 30. The MCB is Bagatelle, in turn, open 11 to 17 hours on Saturday. "These special schedules have been designed to better meet the needs of visitors to the mall," says one to the bank. The MCB is considering expanding this service to other agencies in the near future with the opening of new branches and changing customer behavior.

The side of the Mascarene Bank, on its twelve branches, eleven of them except that of the capital, opening their doors on Saturdays, from 9 to 13 hours. These hours apply to both cash transactions that the client advisory. "Today, banks have more flexibility in closing times. Technically, they may even close their doors at night, "says one banker. Services that customers have the most appeal Saturdays are requests for products and services, information, realization of projects (housing loan, personal loan, among other things).

However, the side of some banks, there are no plans to open on Saturdays. Various reasons are. "Previously, banks opened on Saturdays. But since they open up to 15 sometimes 17 hours on Fridays, they do more, "said an executive in the banking sector. He added: "We must say that today, the customer can make withdrawals through ATMs. It can make purchases with the card and provides Internet banking facilities. It does not need him to go to the bank on Saturdays. "
