Apex is not the first distributor of the Apple brand in Mauritius or the first Apple Premium Resseller (APR) of the country. Indeed, Leal Communications and Informatics (LCI) represents Apple in Mauritius through its e-shops for several years.
Neemalen Gopal, Director of LCI, do not think his sign suffer from this new competition. "In the market of Apple, we have always been competitors. I do not think that more or less change much in our market share. I recall that LCI is the pioneer importers of Apple products in Mauritius, "he says.
Note that Apple computers are a niche market premium which represents less than 5% of the computer market in the world and also in Mauritius. Always around the world, Apple and Samsung share 50% share of the smartphone market, while Apple brand to occupy more than 70% of the tablet market with its famous touch iPad.
One thing is certain, increased competition on Apple products in Mauritius can only be beneficial to consumers. Although do not expect huge price differences between brands, we can still expect tough competition at the level of customer service, including the level of after-sales service. From Apex, the largest store in the Indian Ocean dedicated to Apple and LCI, which has a long experience of this brand is the consumer who will decide.
