After 2010 and 2012, scholarships will be again this year, attributed to Mauritian artists. The four musicians selected will receive training in the Dartington International Summer School in England.
Auditions will be held this Thursday, May 9, to determine which candidates will benefit from this grant. The target year for musicians of all ages, including practicing classical music. However, participants must have basic knowledge, that is to say, knowing at least read notes.
The selections will be made by a panel of five judges. The jury will pose questions to the candidates, and they will eventually play a song of their choice. In terms of instruments, they must bring their own.
Friday, May 10, a classical music concert will be held at the Cultural Center of French Expression in Curepipe, from 20 hours. Among the musicians present for the occasion, the public will find the stock of 2010 and 2012 editions, and Véronique ZUEL-Bungaroo Gerard Télot and Brad Cohen himself. The latter is a conductor and pianist recognized. At the end of the concert, the names selected for the 2013 vintage will be released people.
The age criterion was changed for this edition, as Paul Olsen, director of Opera Mauritius and one of the sponsors of the series of awards shows. "In previous editions, we were looking young. For Brad Cohen Travel Bursaries 2013, we changed that and a person may submit an application, regardless of age, "he says.
The concert is open to the public and will have 120 seats. Tickets are available at Rs 250 Rézo Otayo. The funds collected at the event will help to establish a financial capital for future projects.
