This is the decision of the mayor of Curepipe to accommodate 200 additional retailers in this temporary structure. These traders are currently based in Butte Building. The Fire Services of the City of Light had warned the mayor that the building has serious risk of fire and, therefore, the occupants should be urgently evacuated.
In that it is the Forum, the city of Curepipe decided to demolish its architecture and construct a new building. This at a cost of Rs 78 M. The work should begin shortly.
Significant investment will be made in conduits for the flow of rainwater from the roof of the building. The council will disburse Rs 5 million for those specific jobs. With this new structure, the Forum will house not only vegetable, but also the 'Gambling Operators'.
