8 years, 1 month ago - October 15, 2013
From Wednesday, Dev Manraj will be the new strong man of the Ministry of Finance. The Senior Adviser Office of Prime Minister Ali Mansoor succeeded as Financial Secretary. His appointment was hailed in both the public sector and the private sector.

"I am delighted . I thank the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance for the confidence placed in me. " That was the first reaction Dev Manraj after his appointment as Financial Secretary . He had his confirmation letter Tuesday and will assume his new position on Wednesday. "My priority will be to prepare the Budget, " he says. Dev Manraj also has the intention to "motivate" the team working at the Ministry of Finance " so that it is keen to do better. "
It should be noted that the preparation of the budget is not a new exercise for Dev Manraj . "I have prepared for very many years. I know all the nooks and crannies of the Ministry of Finance (note: he worked there for 25 years) , " he says . It has also been Financial Secretary between 1990 and 1998.
How do we welcome the appointment? "Faced with a situation of " damaging control, " Dev Manraj is the appropriate man in the present circumstances. It has already proven itself as the Financial Secretary in the 90s . It was the height . I think it will be a different approach to its predecessor. What will make the difference. Dev Manraj is a leader and he has all the qualities to motivate his troops ' advance union Rachid Imrith .
The union Radhakrishna Sadien proves equally glowing : " Dev Manraj has a beautiful course , a human touch and great humility . If I am surprised by the speed of the appointment of the Financial Secretary , I'm glad it was a Mauritian who has been appointed . Dev Manraj known Mauritian realities.
However, it would have the courage to resist the neoliberal policies that the World Bank has always sought to impose on Mauritius. Wait and see how it will happen with the budget ! ".In the private sector , the appointment of Dev Manraj is also welcomed . " Dev Manraj is very competent . He already knows the business. This is someone who has a lot of experience and ability. We hope we will have a situation of stability and I think it will. I do not expect that positive things. It's good for the country , "concluded Ahmed Parkar .
For the postponement of the Budget
Despite the appointment of Dev Manraj , union Radhakrishna Sadien persists and sign to see the Budget "a couple of extra days " to allow Dev Manraj to "take knowledge of the issues and consult stakeholders. " What think Dev Manraj ? "I do not think this is necessary because the work is already done ," he replies . Radhakrishna Sadien wishes in the same vein as the 2014 Budget would have a social dimension. " This has not been the case in recent years," he decries .
