Saisies chez Bheenick : la Liste Complète des Pièces à Conviction

À sa sortie d'hôpital, Rundheersing Bheenick devrait comparaître devant la justice pour son inculpation provisoire. Une somme de Rs 1 million, composée en devises et roupies, a été saisie à sa résidence.

La police a saisi près d’un million de roupies et des documents lors de la perquisition de la résidence de Rundheersing Bheenick, l’ex-gouverneur de la Banque de Maurice (BoM). Ce dernier devrait être traduit devant le tribunal ce lundi, pour son inculpation provisoire. Mais cela dépendra de son état de santé car il est actuellement à l'hôpital Apollo Bramwell. Pris d'un malaise lors de son audition aux Casernes centrales vendredi, il avait initialement été admis à l'hôpital Dr A.G. Jeetoo, Port-Louis. Par la suite, il avait demandé son transfert vers l'établissement de Moka.

Plusieurs documents ainsi que des porte-feuilles ont été saisis lors de la perquisition. Le comptage a révélé que les sommes qui se trouvaient dans chacune d'entre elles étaient reparties en roupie et dollars. Chez lui, à Moka, la police a saisi environ Rs 1 million, dont des devises étrangères, ainsi qu’une dizaine de boîtes en carton, contenant plusieurs documents. Plusieurs de ces fichiers sont communément appelés « red files » dans le milieu bancaire et sont considérés strictement confidentiels.

C’est jeudi dernier que Yandraduth Googoolye, le First Deputy Governor de la BoM, accompagné d’autres cadres de la banque, ont débarqué au CCID pour consigner une déposition. Ils soutiennent qu’après sa démission, Rundheersing Bheenick a emporté un coffre et des boîtes contenant des documents. Quelques jours après, Rundheersing Bheenick aurait retourné le coffre, avec les documents à l’intérieur. Les représentants de la BoM ont expliqué aux policiers qu’ils comptent procéder à un inventaire pour voir si des documents manquaient et que c’est par mesure de précaution qu’ils ont souhaité consigner cette déposition. Rundheersing Bheenick nie avoir emporté un quelconque coffre. Au Défi Quotidien, il avait confié, la semaine dernière, que « ce n’était pas un coffre, mais un tiroir de rangement (‘filing cabinet’) ».

« On m’a demandé de quitter mes fonctions avec effet immédiat. J’ai dû vider mon bureau au plus vite et j’ai rangé mes effets personnels dans un ‘filing cabinet’ que j’ai ramené chez moi. Tout a été effectué avec le feu vert de la BoM. Il était convenu, par la suite, que je rachète ce ‘filing cabinet’ et la BoM avait agréé dans un premier temps, avant de revenir sur sa décision », avait-il déclaré.

Parmi les documents saisis, on retrouve les procès-verbaux de plusieurs réunions du Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), des correspondances adressées à l’ancien Premier ministre Navin Ramgoolam, des correspondances avec l’ex-secrétaire du cabinet Suresh Seebaluck et des dossiers personnels. D’autres pièces à conviction, notamment 5 CD et deux clés USB, devraient être envoyées pour analyses. Notons que 10 grammes d’or se trouvaient aussi dans le coffre.
