"We've received the approval today (Wednesday) and this'll be the country's 49th mission," said a foreign ministry official of Bangladesh.
Employment opportunities in Mauritius are growing and Dhaka can tap the market, he said adding, "Mauritius also enjoy AGOA facility under which it can export products to the US market without duty."
"Bangladeshi businessmen can invest there and avail of the duty-free export facility to the US market,".
Mauritius labour minister Shakeel Ahmed had been in Bangladesh on Mar 1 and had fruitful talks with the government to sign a memorandum of understanding on sending workers there, he said.
"It'll open an opportunity to send male workers there as out of about 10,000 Bangladeshi workers in Mauritius, about 1,000 are male," he added.
The foreign ministry has sent a letter to the expatriate welfare and overseas employment ministry to reduce visa attestation fee from $60 to $4 dollar for Mauritius, said the official.
"It'll reduce the cost of migrants."
Mauritius is one of the few countries which recongnised Bangladesh on Feb 20, 1972 after its independence.
