A team from GML Management, in partnership with GML Foundation, organised a cleanliness campaign on the public beach, Melville, in a bid to promote sustainable development on the island. The event was held on the occasion of World Water Day and was also part of the Independence celebrations.
The staff of GML Management, equipped with gloves and plastic bags, proceeded to clean the waste on the beach. Marie-Laurence Dupont, the co-ordinator of GML Foundation Joseph Lagesse guided her team on mangroves and its effect on nature.
Later, the employees visited the desalination infrastructure at the Legends hotel. The hotel faced major water cuts in the last few years and decided to resort to the desalinisation technique in order to have a stock of water ready. The team also visited the setting up of infrastructure for treating waste water which is used for watering of plants in the hotel. Roy and Bruno, two people from the hotel, guided them in their tour.
After the clean up drive and short visit, a collation was held for the employees of GML who took part in the clean up drive.
