Liquidator nominated for Infinity

Presiding Judge of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court, Mr Paul Lam Shang Leen, yesterday nominated Mr Roger Boodhna as the provisional liquidator of Infinity BPO Ltd following a proceeding entered by the Municipality of Quatre Bornes against the former call centre.

Mr Boodhna will have to re-evaluate the assets of Infinity BPO Ltd and find potential buyers. The funds collected would be used to pay for the debts of the company, including the non-payment of part of the salaries of at least 200 employees.

The company, which employed around 350 people, did not pay the employees for the months of November, December and January.

Mr Jean Suzanne, the main Infinity shareholder and also the company’s CEO, had a meeting with Mr Mohamed yesterday to discuss ways to locate more funds for the payment of salaries. But the meeting was cut short after the hearing of Judge Paul Lam Shang Leen.

Mr Suzanne also appeared before the Industrial Court earlier during yesterday regarding the provisional charge of non-payment of salaries entered against him by the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment in February.

The Vice President of the Industrial Court, Mrs Ratnah Seetohul Toolsee, announced that the verdict for this case would be heard on April 13.

Legal counsels of Mr Suzanne, Mr Roshi Bhadain and Mr Yash Bhadain, argued that the charges of non-payment of salaries should have been lodged against the company Infinity BPO Ltd and not against Mr Suzanne. Meanwhile Mr Jeff Lingaya is on the 22nd day of a hunger strike to protest about the non-payment of salaries.
