The Mauritian Association of Women Entrepreneurs (AMFCE) will host the annual meeting of the World Association of Women Entrepreneurs (FCEM) from May 25-28.
During four days, presidents of national associations of women entrepreneur members of the FCEM will articulate their work around the theme of the conference ‘Women Entrepreneurs: the driving force for economic empowerment’.
The election for the new FCME president will also be held.
“The economic situation in the world is very difficult. Women entrepreneurs need to innovate in their products and reinvent their activities to be able to make a place for themselves. There is too much competition and entrepreneurship demands imagination and courage,” said Aline Wong, commissioner for African programmes at the FCEM.
She added that the government needs to invest more in women entrepreneurs as they are contributing to the economy of the country.
“Today, there is this realisation that if a country does not take into consideration the talent of women entrepreneurs to integrate it into its economic growth then it is missing an opportunity,” said Wong.
Through this event, women who have invested in or manage – single-handedly or jointly businesses in the manufacturing, service or retail sectors, will be brought together. “This event also wants to promote and encourage professional growth and life-long learning among its members and support young women entrepreneurs in their professional development,” said Wong.
