PRO IT Mauritius, to be held from April 20 to 22

The PRO IT event, to be held from April 20 to 22 at the FOM Exhibition Centre, Mer Rouge, aims to provide solutions in all areas of business under one roof.

According to Neemalen Gopal, president of the Mauritius IT Industry Association (MITIA), this is a first for Mauritius and he firmly believes that IT has a bright future in Mauritius.

Professionals from different sectors will get an overview of the different options available to better manage their business.

Gopal spoke about the importance of the information solution fair and said the show was the first of its kind in Mauritius. The business community, that is entrepreneurs and businessmen, will get an idea about the different types of solutions proposed by IT companies in Mauritius.

So far, there most shows have been aimed at the general public where we see new technologies, but not really solutions. “We are all aware of the importance of using IT to improve efficiency and productivity in companies,” he said.

Gopal also outlined the reasons for proposing the information technology solutions.

He said, “When we took the decision at the end of last year to organise this event jointly with the National Computer Board, there were several elements that were considered. These included the local IT industry, which is a developed industry with several companies that have more than 20 to 40 years of experience.

The president of MITIA said, “In any sector, we need efficient and effective solutions. The computer is essential in all organisations and helps bring in more business activity. Mauritian expertise will be deployed at the fair and all major local IT companies will be present and will share their latest solutions.”

He added that this event fills a void where people can now see the solutions that exist for businesses.

“We invite all professionals in different trades to come and see all that IT has to offer,” he said.

Gopal believes that Mauritius is equipped with state of the art technology and most local IT companies are already partnering with foreign companies for the most efficient solutions.

He believes that the computer industry of Mauritius is capable and has the skills to deliver solutions.

“We want to convey the message that we have the maturity to provide the solutions needed.,” saidthe president of MITIA.
