Mauritius’s tourism arrivals for the first quarter of this year rose 5.1 percent to 262,626 visitors compared with a year earlier, led by France, the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority said.
Europe accounted for 67 percent of arrivals, the Port Louis-based agency said today in an e-mailed statement. The number of visitors from France, the largest market, rose 8.3 percent to 92,097, the agency said.
January to March coincides with the second half of the country’s peak tourism season. Arrivals in March declined by 2.8 percent to 83,349, according to the agency.
