The State Bank of Mauritius has launched SBM BillPay, a service that allows customers to pay their electricity and mobile telephone bills through their credit card.
This was announced by SBM chief executive Gautam Vir on Wednesday. Payments can be made at automatic teller machines (ATMs) of SBM throughout the island or at over 150 SBM POS terminals located in Winner’s supermarkets.
Vir said, “This is indeed revolutionary in the way we settle our utility bills. It is the perfect solution for customers who do not want to wait in queues at cash counters of CEB and Orange shops,” he said.
According to Vir, the bank has always been very innovative and they are thrilled to be the first bank to offer this type of payment facility in the island.
“We are committed to making people’s lives easier and we are moving towards our goal by introducing such services,” he said.
SBM BillPay is convenient for paying bills 24/7 through the use of a SBM debit or credit card.
