Rs 400 million for shopping mall at Boulet Rouge
The shopping mall will be spread over an area of 10,000 metre square and will be built on three hectares

Palm Square Properties, a business venture by Rudi and his son Anil Goorwappa, is set to construct a shopping mall at Boulet Rouge, Flacq at a cost of Rs 400 million.
The construction of the building will be completed by August 2012.

The shopping mall will be spread over an area of 10,000 metre square and will be built on three hectares. It will be composed of 70 shops based on a mix-match concept on the ground and first floor.

There will be several attractions such as a food court, a leisure space for children. More than 165 parking spaces will be allocated.

Over 150 workers will be needed for the construction which will generate more than 300 jobs. The promoter said that the shopping mall will be an asset to the region since it is being carefully planned in terms of security and accessibility to nearby regions.

Rudi Goorwappa said, “Real estate promoters are more inclined towards investing in commercial centres in the centre of the country, Plaines Wilhems and in the North. A few invest in urban regions. Flacq is an unexplored region with an enormous potential and we did not hesitate in investing here.” He added that the shopping mall will represent quality, class and at the same time will offer an authentic shopping experience. The mall has been designed bearing in mind ancient and new local architecture.

The project has been designed by Pierre Yves Serret from Architects Studio who has taken into consideration the importance of ecology. Moreover, the roof has been designed to allow for natural ventilation, which will in turn minimise the use of air conditioning.

The construction work is being undertaken by Building & Civil Engineering Co Ltd. The mall will also include duty-free facilities since many tourists
visit the region.
