‘Friends of La Balise Marina’ held a meeting

The committee ‘Friends of La Balise Marina’ held a meeting on Thursday at La Maison de La Balise Marina (House of La Balise Marina), in Black River.

This is a promise kept by the IRS project sponsors, who had decided to dedicate a space for exchange of information in the region.

On the occasion, La Maison de La Balise Marina was unveiled to the stakeholders. This centre is the new hub for communication with the locals.

“By being in the village of Black River, this house is part of the community and demonstrates our commitment to being close to and listening to the people,” said Dominic Dupont, managing director of the IRS project.

A resident of the locality has been employed by the project sponsors to ensure the coordination and administration of the house.

At this meeting, the training plan was also presented. The first session of screening for those wishing to benefit from training in the fields of hospitality, construction and building services, and activities related to a marina is scheduled for mid-July.

Courses on general knowledge and corporate values will be available to all candidates from September 2011. The courses leading to graduation will begin in October 2011.

The courses will be coordinated by Advitam Ltd which is a specialist in human resources training, under the leadership of its director, Raj Dundoo.

To recall, the overall social budget is Rs 24 million out of which Rs 11 million will be allocated to training.

In 2011, a sum of Rs 4 million will be dedicated to social projects to promote social and economic integration of the residents of Black River. The Balise Marina is a land development project which covers an area of 13 hectares and includes 113 residential units.
