Following the euphoria of the first day of the Indian Ocean Island Games 2011 where Mauritius bagged six gold medals, the country won four additional gold medals on Sunday.
This places Mauritius second in the medal rankings, which is currently led by Reunion.
Reunion has bagged a total of 18 gold medals after tow days of competition. On Sunday, Mauritian cyclist proved to be better than the opposition in the time trial event. Mauritius also bagged a gold medal in swimming and in judo where Annabelle Laprovidence won the +78 kg final.
In basketball, the women’s national team made history by beating Seychelles on Saturday and Comoros on Sunday.
