The cycling competition saw the participation of 31 groups in the three categories namely mixed, +40 and under 21.
Speaking to The Independent, Chris Desjardins, events organiser at CRA World Events Management, expressed his satisfaction and said the race was a true success. “It was a very competitive race. All participants, irrespective of their category, were good. I am very satisfied with the way the competition took place. It all went smoothly, without any major huddles,” he exclaimed.
Desjardins added, “There will definitely be another edition of Mauritius Coast 2 Coast MTB Challenge next year. It will take place with maybe a variation in the track on offer but a new edition will certainly take place.”
The overall winners of the race were Gregory Piat and Liam Somers of Forex Direct, while winners of the +40 category were Mathieu Rivet and Christopher Gerard of the Island Riders.
The under21 category winners were Mathieu Le Blanc and Oliver Cron of the Perfect Two and the mixed category winners were Fabien Halbwachs and Aurelie Halbwachs of Greenfield.
The competition which saw the participation of not only local participants but also competitors from South Africa and Reunion Island had as main sponsors, the South African company, Flake which specialises in the making of sports socks and Air Mauritius.
