CSR: Vulnerable Children, housing and extreme poverty priority soon

The National Corporate Social Responsibility Committee has a draft on the use of funds from businesses as part of their commitment to social responsibility. According to this, it is proposed that 50% of the CSR Fund companies are transferred to social housing projects, the fight against extreme poverty and empowerment of the community and well-being of children from vulnerable groups. 

Sanjiv Gopal, the CSR Committee at the Ministry of Finance, told this Wednesday, October 12, the guidelines will be announced at a press conference to be held next week. 

In addition, under the same guidelines, the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) involved in the social and receiving funding from the CSR should be especially careful because their accounts will be reviewed soon and will be monitored by the CSR Committee. "The decision to grant priority I like children. It is well to insist on vulnerable children because Maurice has more and more children are prone to problems such as abuse or stress education ," said Rita Venkatasawmy, director of the Center Education and Child Development of Mauritius (CEDEM).

The concept of CSR, which was introduced in 2009, is revised this year regarding funding priorities. Note that firms must pay 2% of their profits in the fund for programs that contribute to socio-economic development. Other sectors that will benefit the fund are diverse: health sport / leisure environment, education / training and natural disasters.
