He had alleged that the five are involved in the manipulation of containers with goods that arrived from China.
The councilor said that the containers had more goods than they were supposed to.
According to Khodabacus, the documents were manipulated so that these products could pass through customs without an additional fee being charged.
He added that the shipment was addressed to a councillor but he did not mention any name. On his part councilor Mahen Goondea said, “I visited China with a colleague to choose the sports equipment. I do not understand why Raouf Khodabaccus has complained about the fraud after so many days. The consignment of 197 boxes reached Mauritius in April.”
Goondea explained, “ It contained 1,000 pairs of shoes. Even if ‘Goondeea’ was writtenon the container, it does not mean that it belongs to me. As far as my belongings are concerned, I carried them in my suitcase.”
Khodabaccus said, “I have only asked the police to conduct an investigation on the consignment, which came from China. The customs have asked me to give them more details so that they can investigate further.”
