
Dulthumun said that despite the financial crisis, the government has presented a good budget and has taken the well being of the population into consideration.
He commented on several sectors including health, education, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), where according to him, adequate measures have been taken by the minister of Finance and Economic
Development, Xavier-Luc Duval. Dulthumun, however, said that the government has not come up with solid measures for small planters, especially with the looming food crisis. He wants the government to come forward with more concrete measures for these small planters in due course. Regarding the health sector, he welcomed the decision to increase the subsidy for people who need to go abroad for treatment, from Rs 200,000 to Rs 500,000. He is also pleased with the fact that more nurses and doctors will be recruited.
He expressed his satisfaction concerning the grants and facilities given to SMEs. Concerning education, he welcomed the initiative that pre-primary students will get free access.
With regards to Ganga Snan, which will be celebrated on Thursday, he stated that at the MSDTF level, this festival will be celebrated at Anse La Raie, Mont Choisy, Blue Baie and Flic en Flac.
He, nonetheless, regrets the fact that during the festival, street vendors invade the beaches and hinder devotees from praying. He made an appeal to concerned authorities to prohibit hawkers on the beach on that day, especially those selling non-vegetarian food.
