The objective of the workshops is to build capacity of enterprises and trade-support institutions on market research and teach them how to analyse, conduct research and assess potential markets for their products. The first one was held from November 8 to 11 at the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) headquarters, Ebène. The remaining two will be held from January 24 to 27 and February 6 to 9.
“Some 30 participants, both from the public and private sectors involving the MCCI, Enterprise Mauritius, Mauritius Exporters Association (MEXA) as well as the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Association (SMEDA) are involved in this exercise,” stated Mandusha Rambaccussing, officer of the International Trade Ministry to The Independent. The first workshop, ‘Export Ready and Market Scan’ dealt with understanding company position towards exports and identifying potential markets.
The second one, ‘Market Zoom’ will deal with identifying key characteristics of a target market. “Basically, the participants will have to single out a product they will have to export,” she added.
As for the third workshop entitled ‘Market Entry and Target Market Map’ it will centre on understanding business environment from market information to market intelligence directly used by the exporting company. ITC addresses these issues with its suite of user-friendly market analysis tools that help exporters, importers and trade support institutions stay up to date with international trade trends.
