The Wi-Fi Soon Be a Reality

Soon, several regions will be connected to WiFi. At the Ministry of Technology, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the tender has already been launched and the developer will soon be known.

The goal is to make the Internet more accessible to Mauritius. WIFI around the area, five computers will be installed for those who have no laptop. Connectivity will be 2 megabits, but its capacity will increase later. This project is funded by "Universal Service Fund" where operators of the telecommunication sector contribute. The project will cost Rs 5.2 M. Rodrigues will also be connected to Wi-Fi. The project will be a pilot and other regions will be connected in the future.

WIFI antenna is barely visible and will serve a kilometer. An officer of the Ministry of ICT assured the public that these antennas are not harmful to health. He said the Information and Communication Technology Authority (ICTA) will enforce standards of transmitting antennas. The Wi-Fi technology is a wireless computer network set up to operate in the internal network. It became a way to access the broadband internet. It is based on the IEEE 802.11 standard (ISO / IEC 8802-11).

The Wi-Fi allows you to connect laptops, desktops, PDAs or devices to a broadband connection over a radius of several tens of meters.
