Subscribers received a message informing them that the problem was being looked into. Emtel users were still able to make and receive calls.
Speaking to The Independent, Shyam Roy, chief executive officer (CEO) of Emtel said the network experienced a breakdown of its equipment, which provides the Internet service, at around 8 pm on Wednesday.
A team of technicians immediately started working on it. A second message was sent out informing the users that the system was back on and the network apologised for
inconveniences.
“We do our best to limit the occurrence of such problems. However, breakdowns do happen. But we always try to fix the issue in as little time as possible,” said Roy.
