Competition in the ICT sector will encourage the reduction of internet tariffs in a few months. Tassarajen Pillay Chedumbrum, minister, says that this sector is increasingly dynamic in Mauritius.
" We are announcing lower fares every year. In 2012, there will inevitably be a further drop since we now have a new operator, namely Bharat Telecom, and the SAFE cable is no longer subject to a monopoly. This is what will lead to lower prices , "said Pillay Tassarajen Chedumbrum.
The last cut rates back to 1 December 2011. The Minister of ICT had reported a decline of 12% to 46% on Home and ADSL charges 50% on ADSL Business. However, the percentage decline for 2012 has not yet been set.
