Ten weeks. This is the number of weeks available to the various hotels in the country to comply with the new recommendations of the Tourism Authority, in order to strengthen safety standards within their institutions. It is following a monitoring exercise conducted by representatives of the regulator in April 2012, a report has been submitted. This exercise took place over a period of one month in some 300 settlements.
Among the key measures advocated in this report is the mandatory installation of infrared cameras to be operational 24 hours on 24 and 7 days on 7. The report also indicates that the cameras will always be posted at the entrance gates. In addition, security officers will have to be more rigorous to all those who enter and leave the institution. "People traveling to the hotel will have to explain the reason for their visits because there is a disconcerting carelessness at this level and may affect the safety of residents," said a top executive of the Tourism Authority.
The third recommendation will further deployment of security guards on the beaches and 24 out of 24. In that regard this component, it will be the executives of hotels to assess the size of their hotels and then decide how many officers will be deployed. What will happen there any hotels that will make the resistance? To this question, the Tourism Authority said he did not make real trouble. "When we decided to conduct this evaluation, we could count on the support of all institutions and we are confident that they will apply the recommendations," says the senior official. He adds that the recalcitrants will take responsibility.
This ten-week moratorium, which will be distributed to hotels, does not apply to hotels that are opening their doors. The new hotels will immediately implement these measures.
