Lychees are already on the market. Only problem: they sell at exorbitant prices. At Rs 800 per kilo, the litchi is offered to Rs 10 per unit for a handful of buyers eager to taste this fruit very popular.
It is only in the North that the first litchis are available. They do not sell the unit but still only kilo.
Yet Agricultural Research and Extension Unit (AREU) provided a juicy harvest this year. Up to 5 000 tonnes should be collected a tenth will be exported to Europe. However, the institution warned that bats may once again play spoilsport.
