The fight against counterfeiting is increasing. Reportedly, 16,318 products were seized from January to September this year, while the number was 11,998 in the year 2011. Which is already an increase of 36%. At this rate, the increase is expected to exceed the 50% mark by the end of the year.
Among the items seized by the customs authorities, we find imitations of major international brands of clothing, but also komatiks products and pharmaceuticals. Other products such as spare parts for cars are also popular.
To intensify its fight against counterfeiting, the MRA will of tools available to local representatives of international brands. They will have access to secure links through which they can determine the authenticity of imported products. "Some counterfeit products are so well made that finds it difficult to identify true and false," said a source from the MRA.
