Water: No Flexibility in Supplying Despite Improved Condition of Reservoir

The cuts are always current. The staff of the CWA met, Friday, Dec. 28, to review the situation of tanks as well as the water distribution system. However, even if the tank level increased rigor and caution is still needed.

" We want to know the results of the draconian measures taken to avert a crisis. It turns out they are very positive. The tank level increases. But we must maintain our efforts. Recent rains have not been enough to fill the tanks. Rather they were beneficial to plantations , "says Bishek Narain, head of communications at the CWA.

Thus, on the central plateau, running water will be provided twice a day, in the high-Plains Wilhems, once a day and in the south west, the water will flow once a day in the valve. In the capital, the scheme is similar to the central plateau.

Regarding the situation in the reservoirs, the rate of filling Mare aux Vacoas, the largest reservoir in the country is 53% with a volume of 13, 71 million cubic meters (Mm ³) of water for capacity of 25, 89 Mm ³.

Mare-Longue is filled to 37.6%, 21.7% Farm, Butte Middle-27.8% Midlands 39, 8 and La Nicolière to 39.4%.

CWA put on other devices in order to optimize water resources. Thus, the organization responsible for the provision of water called the Water Resources Unit for the operation of new boreholes. The new tablecloths used will be operational in 2013. They are located in East and South-West.

However, as a precautionary measure, the CWA advises consumers to boil tap water before drinking.
