OVEC: Mauritian Partner of Chinese Scholarship ...
Overseas Education Centre (OVEC) was chosen by the Chinese Scholarship Council as its partner for Mauritian student exibition which will be held Monday, May 27 at the Octave Wiehe Auditorium, University of Mauritius.

This is an opportunity for Mauritian students to talk to Chinese officials and to have a better understanding of China and its schools and apply for a scholarship. In Mauritius, the director of OVEC, Franky Chitson argues that "what attracts mostly Mauritian students is the quality of education at an affordable cost." "It makes higher education accessible to students from all backgrounds," he said.

Present in Mauritius for more than a decade, OVEC has, to date, sent several Mauritian students in China. Over the past five years, the center has helped many to get scholarships in Chinese universities. Most of the 28 universities present at the show are his partners. OVEC has sent students to China in almost all fields of study: medicine and dentistry, mechanical and electrical engineering, mechatronics, civil engineering, chemical engineering, aeronautical engineering, actuarial, Food Science, pharmaceuticals, software and computer engineering, international trade , accounting and finance, architecture and Chinese.

According to Mr. Chitson, Mauritian students are interested more in the Chinese destination given the benefits it represents. "China is the second world economy and it is only a matter of time before it becomes the first. For many, learning the Chinese language and culture is perceived as assets just as valid as the academic degree. But what attracts mostly Mauritian students is the quality of education at affordable costs. This makes higher education accessible to students from all backgrounds, "he said.

All universities proposed by OVEC says Chitson are recognized by the Ministry of Education of Mauritius and the Ministry of Education of China. OVEC is only universities in the top division that took the trouble to visit, he said, and appreciate the level of professionalism. Chinese nationals themselves, says the director of OVEC, must have outstanding results in high school to be admitted to these schools.

Of the 28 universities NUIST, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology - the number one in China in meteorology - Southeast University, China Pharmaceutical University and South China Normal University, which is located in the great city of Guangzhou in southern China where many Mauritians are for business. This university is popular for learning Mandarin.

OVEC is a wide range of specialized Chinese universities in various fields, such as the Nanjing Medical University, affiliated with more than 40 hospitals. This is one of the best medical universities in China. China also has branches prestigious British universities such as Nottingham China, Staffordshire University - GIST, the University of Sheffield and Manchester Metropolitan.

In addition, the show will provide an opportunity for Mauritian students to talk to Chinese officials and have a better understanding of China and its schools and apply for a scholarship. OVEC will meanwhile present "to assist students in their application, briefing before departure, visa procedures procedures, including housing assistance," Mr. Chitson. Further information about the exhibition is available on the website www.ovec.ms .
