The Council of Ministers Announced an Overhaul of the "Mauritius Research Council"

The Mauritius Research Council Act will be amended in order to review the role of the Mauritius Research Council (MRC). This was decided by the Council of Ministers at a meeting this Friday, May 31, under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, Rashid Beebeejaun. The MRC will have a structure to encourage private participation and applied research in the Mauritian context.

Was also discussed a document to facilitate administrative procedures for obtaining of burial and cremation permits. The Council of Ministers also took note of a University Partnership Mauritius - University of Geneva for an undergraduate program in medicine from August 2013.

The Council of Ministers endorsed the presentation of Revenue and Valuation Appeal Tribunal Bill in the National Assembly. This bill provides, inter alia, the creation of an appellate body and the establishment of a mediation system for taxation.
