Expats Living In Mauritius...
They chose to settle in Mauritius or work.

Thanks to the warm welcome by the people and the discovery of the Mauritian culture , the integration of expatriates appears to be without too much trouble . Some of them give us their valuable experience. They have no regrets for taking this decision. Instead, they intend to soak more of the local culture.Faliu Julien from France , Belgium Tony , Miriam Lozada Venezuela , Olivier A Siu Kong to France and Colleen St Pern South Africa . They all live in Mauritius. Their decision was not made ??on a whim . They were led to this choice of love , for professional reasons or to try a new adventure. Since their arrival , their life unfolds without false notes. A situation that encourages them " to discover all the facets of the island , not just the first idea , the image of the postcard " as said Olivier Kong Siu A , under contract for a period of two three.
Serenity.
Freshly arrived with husband and child , Miriam Lozada gradually discovers the local life. " I lived for a while in Paris , and here I made ??friends in a very short time . " While this first approach is positive, it is aware that there will be ups and downs, as it is never easy to start over in a foreign country .For Julien Faliu , the golden rule to follow when you decide to live elsewhere " is to start with a life and do not go with the idea to flee his country . If an expatriate is disappointed his experience is that it has failed to adapt. When we are in a stranger, it is we who must go to the people and not vice versa. "To Colleen and Tony St Pern , integration with the local culture was obvious they have found love here . Thanks to their spouse, " things are done simply . It is aided and abetted in this new stage , "says Tony . For its part, Colleen St Pern first fell in love with the island when she was there on vacation. After meeting with her husband and many roundtrips between Mauritius and South Africa , she decided to settle permanently with his two boys. " For me, it was obvious. In Mauritius, my children can grow up in safety . This is one of the best decisions I've made. I never felt fear and I knew that here, we could have a peaceful life . "
Integration.
It's been six years Faliu Julien , founder and director of Expatblog lives in Mauritius. It feels like home. " Mauritians confirmed their reputation of being hospitable and friendly people . This has greatly facilitated my integration . " Is shared by Olivier , French and Vietnamese sentiment. Being busy with his work, he has not had time to explore the country. " I'm beginning to discover the lifestyle and customs with my new colleagues, who quickly put me at ease. I often attends dinner hosted by the latter, which allows me to talk with them and learn more. "His first impression is more or less positive : " The Mauritian respect the hierarchy and they have an innate sense of service. But I admit I was surprised by the difference that exists between the rich and the poor. "Miriam says that " being so well received on the first day and the mix of cultures encourage me to stay, especially for our children , who will grow up in a good atmosphere. " Born in Venezuela , she lived for a time in Miami and Paris , before taking the decision with her ??husband to settle here . It will remain as long as possible . " To see my son grow from day to day contact with the people , I am indebted to Mauritians who opened their arms wide and heart with ease. "
Traditions.
Colleen tells us that an image will remain forever etched in his memory : a cart carrying cane sugar. Very attached to traditions , the South African is in awe of the local culture. "I appreciate all the religious holidays in Mauritius because the fervor is shared by the entire population. This is what tourists are looking for . Mauritius must do everything to preserve its traditions. Mauritius is really a rainbow nation with all the different cultures. I was fascinated to see That the Indian folk burn Their dead and many other funerals for the body is Carried down the road with all the people walking behind with flowers . "Julien Faliu traveled extensively . After Spain and England , it was by chance that he has accepted a professional adventure in Mauritius. There had to stay six months but it is still there. " This multicultural richness is found rarely and less in large cities . Mauritians should be proud of and value . " As in all the travel related to his trade, Olivier account to soak up the local culture and go to all parts of the population. He believes that it is important " to learn, not just the picture postcard . Each country has its own wealth. Every foreigner needs to understand the different origins of the population and the country's history . " Miriam is touched and impressed by the closeness that exists in Mauritius. " Mauritians really have the chance to share values ??with different cultures . "
Face down.
But as in all other countries , there is a dark side . For Colleen St Pern , it is high time that Mauritians open their eyes to the environment. " I find the litter very bad and see people just throwing things out of car windows , littering the beaches . This is Such a pity as it spoils this beautiful country . " In addition , it regrets the construction of many buildings and shopping centers. " Tourists do not come to Mauritius for that. It is the natural beauty premium. Unfortunately , more and more , we sacrifice beautiful landscapes for things that are not worth the trouble . "Tony , Belgian married to a Mauritian, recounts his difficulty in finding a job. He struggled a bit before finding something he liked . " As a foreigner , we see very quickly that wages are not suitable . The world of work and the same mentality is difficult to understand at first . For example, the lack of seriousness of some employees, who do not hesitate to make the " shoemaker Monday " and start their weekend on Friday . "Even if people are friendly and welcoming , he finds that communitarianism is widespread in Mauritius, " especially in older people ."For its part, Julien just regret not being able to own because it is not only in possession of a work permit. It accepts the Mauritian laws there , but he thinks that " the IRS are not accessible to all budgets ."Having set sail for the island and have been accepted , expatriates hoping to blend in with the Mauritian nation. As stated Olivier Kong Siu A , " we want to participate in development , while respecting each custom of the country that hosts us so well ."
