"Anou solidaire, Anou créer enn leconomi solide ek dirab.." This is the theme chosen for the budget presented by the Chief Commissioner, Serge Clair on Friday 27 September at the Regional Assembly of Rodrigues. The development budget will be to the tune of Rs 400 million.
Among the key developments, we note that an amount of Rs 172 million will be allocated to the production of drinking water. Including references to invest Rs 156.1 million almost exclusively in four desalination units. This will double the production of water in the island. While a shell of Rs 46.5 million will be dedicated to increasing agricultural production.
The 2014 budget also focuses on the development of education with the construction of community primary schools Guava Mountain and Anse Quitor. All children from 3 years old can register for free in a nursery school.
Emphasis is also placed on the strengthening of economic development, the pursuit of projects in infrastructure, the development of the technology sector of the computer as a new pillar of the economy and promotion of ecology. With this budget, the total expenditure of the Regional Assembly will see an increase of Rs 235 million.
