According to Santosh Ramnauth , president of Shop Owners Association (SOA ), the police and health authorities will do anything to enforce the regulations that are in force . Santosh Ramnauth says this is why he decided to organize meetings with shopkeepers over the need to comply with the law.
"I decided to organize meetings of awareness about this situation . I will address the issue of costs of garbage collection has been reduced. This is a step in the right direction , "said Santosh Ramnauth who believes that the authorities need to be lenient towards the corner shops because they make service to the public .
According to Santosh Ramnauth , small shops are facing stiff competition from supermarkets. " We have very little room to maneuver . On the other hand , we do not hesitate to sell on credit to consumers to keep our customers. We operate in a stalemate , "said the president of the Shop Owners Association (SOA).
According to him, the future of small shops in the area is dark. Many have had to close shop and had another convert part of their hardware stores or clothing store ready-to -wear to survive. SOA currently employs approximately 5,000 shopkeepers across the island .
